NewJeans Completes Tenure as Incheon Airport Customs Ambassador

NewJeans has officially wrapped up their role as promotional ambassadors for the Incheon Airport Customs Office after roughly a year.

The announcement came from the customs office on July 15, confirming that the contract—initially signed in March 2023—had come to an end. Though talks about extending the partnership took place between Incheon Airport Customs and the group’s agency, ADOR, the decision was made not to continue.

It had already been rumored that the customs office was looking for new faces as early as March this year. The timing makes sense given that NewJeans’ ambassador activities were notably limited, mainly due to some well-publicized internal conflicts within ADOR and its parent company HYBE, which arose just a month after NewJeans started their ambassador role. This drama between ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE reportedly made it tough for the group to fully take on their duties.

Now, all eyes are on who will step in next as the Incheon Airport Customs’ new promotional ambassador.

On a related note, ADOR and NewJeans are currently involved in an ongoing legal dispute over the validity of the group’s exclusive contracts. The next court hearing is set for July 24.

The full scope of NewJeans’ journey with Incheon Airport Customs ended on an uncertain yet significant note, as the group navigates both legal challenges and their future promotions.
