“If it weren’t for Mr. Lee Soo Man, I wouldn’t have been able to debut. I loved rock, so I listened to rock music all day and went to nightclubs when I was twenty.”
Heechul said if it had been JYP Entertainment, he would’ve been fired immediately. But Lee Soo Man believed in him.
Heechul:
“Lee Soo Man said, ‘Heechul will become an artist. He’s not the type of kid who’d cause trouble.’”
He also shared a story about being asked to style his long, dyed hair “neatly” for a music show MC gig.
When Heechul brought it up, Lee Soo Man stepped in. He told his manager,
Lee Soo Man:
“Ask the production team. Heechul would do well with his hair like this. But if they don’t like that, we’ll take action.”
Heechul ended up MCing the show without changing his look.
Host Kim Gura was shocked by Lee Soo Man’s support,

“Where can you find someone like that?”
For Super Junior’s 20th anniversary this year, Heechul brought expensive wine to thank Lee Soo Man personally.
