The Terrifying Reality of Trainee Dorm Life Revealed by BLACKPINK’s Rosé

BLACKPINK is opening up about the rough dorm life they had before debut.

The controversy began when Rosé appeared on JTBC’s Sea of Hope and revealed how the group’s early dorm conditions were far from glamorous.

Despite their current luxury apartments, Rosé shared that before debut, the members had to live in tiny, uncomfortable spaces. Cockroaches were a big problem.

She said on the show:

“When I first came to Korea, I wasn’t even in the debut team. There were cockroaches.
At that time, it wasn’t confirmed that we would make our debut. Due to that, we didn’t live in such a nice place.”

Rosé added she had been living in dorms for eight years, so the cramped quarters on Sea of Hope weren’t new to her.

Her dorm life on the show featured her sharing a small room with AKMU’s Suhyun and actress Kim Go Eun — who found the experience exciting and new.

Before their big break, BLACKPINK also talked about dealing with centipedes and cockroaches during their trainee days in the reality show 24/365 with BLACKPINK. Only Lisa was brave enough to catch the bugs.
