Korean Netizens Criticize i-Dle Soyeon’s Music Video for Plagiarism, Production Company Removes Online Content

(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon faces plagiarism controversy over new music video

A music video featuring (G)I-DLE member Soyeon is under fire for plagiarism. The video for producer-turned-singer R.Tee’s debut track “Damdadi,” out in August, was accused of copying visuals from French singer Yseult’s “B*** YOU COULD NEVER.”

Fans first spotted the similarities online. Yseult herself called out the production, demanding credit or removal.

The director, Hong Minho, admitted he was “inspired” by Yseult’s work but did not deny the accusations outright.

“– @rtstlabel : I appreciate the words but let’s be honest this conversation is about plagiarism not inspiration.
Let’s not shift the narrative!
Give credit where it’s due.”

Yseult was clear it’s theft, not inspiration. Legal action is coming.

“Steal my vision = lawsuit
This ain’t « inspiration » it’s theft. @GLOBAL_ZANYBROS @rtstlabel #HONGMINHO : lawyers activated, receipts loaded, chaos unlocked.
You robbed the wrong bitch !”

The controversy reached Korea and sparked sharp criticism:

  • “It’s too obvious.”
  • “At that level, it’s just straight-up copy-pasting.”
  • “This is embarrassing.”
  • “Minho, just retire. How can you blatantly copy like that and still make a living?”

Amid backlash, Achilles Film, the production company, and Hong Minho’s Instagram accounts disappeared.

“About time. You can take down the video as well.”

Soyeon has promised to fight the issue legally. Fans are watching closely as this unfolds.
