SEVENTEEN‘s Vernon is in hot water after controversy around his mother exploded online.

The drama started when Vernon’s mother posted about BTS, HYBE, and SEVENTEEN on X (formerly Twitter). She said BTS “built the company that was able to buy Pledis” (SEVENTEEN’s label) and claimed HYBE used SEVENTEEN to “offset the inevitable income loss that would occur” once BTS members began their military service.

Soon after, fans found another account possibly linked to Vernon’s mother and accused her of Islamophobia.

Now, Vernon’s mother has responded to the backlash. She denied hating BTS, saying she has “always liked BTS” and called the political accusations “ridiculous.” She also defended her past support of Donald Trump.
