ILLIT’s Latest Dance Tutorial Provokes Strong Reaction From NJZ (NewJeans) Fans

ILLIT is facing controversy over accusations of copying NewJeans’ (NJZ) promotional content.
The drama started when ILLIT dropped a dance tutorial poster for their new title track, “Not Cute Anymore.” It features all ILLIT members in black-and-white outfits, showing key choreography moves with text explanations.
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) called the poster “very uniquely creative,” but NJZ fans quickly pushed back. They pointed out that NewJeans had already released similar tutorial posters for their hits “Attention” and “Cookie.”

The situation blew up on X, where fans debated fiercely.
“never seen anything like this” SURE

Others argued NJZ wasn’t the first HYBE group with such posters. BTS had done the same for “For You” and “I Need U” years ago.
“Tokkis really have a superiority complex, … BTS did it first quite the gaslighting and free ILLIT from y’all mass psychosis”

There was also talk of Min Hee Jin creating similar content for Girls’ Generation back in 2010.
“mhj did it first for snsd in 2010 it always circles back to her now give me another excuse why belift is consistently copying newjeans work ”

Others said these posters were inspired by old-school dance illustrations.
“It’s clear that both groups where inspired by THESE kinds of posters. Ideas can coexist not everything is copying damn”

The core dispute? Fans say ILLIT’s poster matches NJZ’s closely on color schemes, fonts, styling, and visual setup.
“Let’s put the photos together and compare them. Visual matching with clothing, color and typesetting. The last two are just like a group.”

“Sister Hong is still doing plagiarism and still extremely obsessed with NewJeans. How can she use the exact same concept, the step-by-step choreography explanations, the same color palette, the same font?”

Accusations against BELIFT LAB for copying NewJeans’ creative style aren’t new. Min Hee Jin herself accused the label last year. That sparked ongoing comparisons between ILLIT and NJZ.
A “Compilation” Of ILLIT’s “Plagiarism” Of NewJeans Becomes A Hot Topic
The debate rages on over whether this is outright copying or just similar ideas in K-pop promo culture. Both sides are throwing strong opinions online.
We’re watching the situation closely.
