RM Sparks Inquiry Over BTS’s Changing Group Dynamics

BTS leader RM is facing controversy after a blunt livestream where he aired frustration about his role in the group and addressed fans’ constant questions about other members.

The controversy began on November 7, when RM hosted a late-night livestream on Weverse. Fans kept asking about other BTS members during what was supposed to be RM’s solo broadcast. RM snapped, telling fans to stop.

“Guys, please don’t look for anyone else. Just come to my station. The other members have their phones, they’ll turn on live if they want to.”

He called the questions “upsetting” and pointed out that the other members could do their own lives if they wanted to. RM repeated this firmly in English.

RM explained that he can no longer represent BTS as a whole. He said the members have grown into different people with their own identities and boundaries.

“Since I’m just one person, I cannot represent our whole team. Until 2017-18, I did a lot, but now all of our members have varied lifestyles, their own personalities…”

The internet exploded with different takes. Some fans think RM was indirectly referencing the controversies swirling around BTS members, especially Jungkook.

“RM in his recent live said he’s aware of what’s going on, but there’s nothing he can do about someone else’s situation. It really sounds like he’s fed up and implying that Jungkook needs to take responsibility for his own actions.” — @loviekf5lu

“When RM started showing his frustration, Jungkook began messaging him in the group chat. RM even said, ‘Let me turn off my group notifications because I’m getting too many messages’.” — @whydoyoucryyy

Others saw RM setting firm boundaries and giving fans a reality check.

“He can’t represent the members the company the label anymore and he is lacking too he is not in the position to speak for everybody. Lord leave him in peace.” — @gol3naotc

“Namjoon not wanting to speak for the members like before isn’t a failure of leadership—it’s a reflection of how enormous they’ve become.” — @y00ngipurrs

RM also addressed BTS’s quiet 2025 despite all members finishing their military service. He said the group has strict standards for their music and many logistics to consider before making a comeback.

“Many people are asking ‘why did you guys throw late 2025 away?’ Well, of course we didn’t want to throw it too. We wanted to do a lot after discharge but there are reasons (we didn’t) that we can’t say. I have no right to say it. But I, too wanted to. Our last con was 2022.” — RM

“Sorry for keeping you waiting so long. We have our reasons and we can’t easily make a comeback until, sorry that this is the only excuse we can offer but we will definitely be back and it may not be in the form you’re looking for but there’s nothing we can do about it.” — RM

RM revealed BTS even discussed a hiatus or disbandment but decided to continue because of their love for the team and fans.

“We even thought a lot about like should we pause the team again here or not, but we LOVE our TEAM and it’s because of the love and hope from all of you watching right now! that we can decide to KEEP GOING.” — RM

He touched on changes in their label, now a listed company where he’s just an employee with limited power to speed things up.

“As you know, the company I joined big hit and all that is different now its a listed company and I am also just one employee so even if I want them to announce things fast it can’t go that way.” — RM

Fans felt the livestream’s heavy energy and sympathized with RM’s burden as leader.

“It’s not easy to came upfront and talk about things especially when your team is always being scrutinised on daily basis… love and warmest hug to namjoon ” — @Borntolove7_

“Energy of namjoon live today was very heavy and i still feel it, but i also know that no change will be painless.” — @amevvil

“There’s immense pressure on Namjoon as the leader of the biggest group in the world… let’s be responsible as armys and support him and the other boys. don’t act entitled pls!” — @kookiegirlxo

The situation shows RM’s frustration is real as BTS navigates pressure, personal identity, and group dynamics under intense public watch. Fans continue to send support as the group prepares for what’s next.
