Taeil will serve the original sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison without reductions.

The controversy began in June last year. Taeil, along with Lee and Hong, met a foreign national at a club in Itaewon. The victim, intoxicated and unable to resist, was sexually assaulted by the three men.

DNA evidence tied all three directly to the victim’s body.

In July, the first trial court sentenced Taeil and his co-defendants to 3 years and 6 months in prison with immediate detention.

The appellate court upheld the ruling and added 40 hours of sexual violence treatment plus a 5-year ban on working in organizations involving children, youth, or people with disabilities.

Taeil contested this, but the verdict stayed the same.

Before the Supreme Court ruling, he said:

“I admit to all of my crimes and deeply reflect on them. While I cannot heal the victim’s wounds, I sincerely apologize.”

Taeil’s fate is sealed. He faces prison time for confirmed aggravated rape, ending his career and public image for good.

He will serve time for aggravated rape.
