Korean Actor Surprises Fans by Retiring to Get Married at 34

Cho Yoon Woo is retiring from acting to get married.
The 34-year-old actor announced on Instagram on January 1 that he is stepping away from his 15-year career.
“After long deliberation, I have found a precious person to be with for life, and to pursue our simple daily life together, I have decided to step away from my 15-year acting career.”

He revealed he debuted at age 21 and focused solely on acting until now. Cho said he wants to protect and enjoy life with his girlfriend of over four years.
“Debuting at 21 and spending 15 years solely focused on my career as an actor has been truly valuable. After careful and lengthy consideration, I am only now sharing this. From now on, I want to enjoy my remaining life with someone I want to protect forever for the first time in my life.”

Cho Yoon Woo started in 2011 with the tvN drama Flower Boy Ramen Shop. He’s known for his role as a bullied student in 2013’s The Heirs. Other credits include Band of Sisters (2017) and a 2023 special appearance on ENA’s Not Others.
He served in the military from June 2018 to February 2020.
