BTS is preparing a big comeback with a free concert… maybe.

The controversy started with rumors about a possible free concert at Gwanghwamun Square.

BIGHIT Music said to Newsen on January 19:

“Discussions are currently underway, and once the venue, schedule, and other details are finalized, official announcements will be made.”

The agency applied to the Cultural Heritage Administration to film and perform at historic spots like Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Sungnyemun Gate. The Cultural Heritage Committee will review the application on January 20 at 2 pm.

BTS is ending their military service hiatus with a comeback on March 20. Their fifth full album will be called ARIRANG with 14 tracks. The title is inspired by the traditional Korean folk song and reflects BTS’s identity and feelings for fans.

The group will kick off a world tour on April 9 at Goyang Sports Complex. The tour includes 79 shows in 34 cities — the most ever by a K-pop artist. It’s set to expand with extra dates in Japan and the Middle East.

BTS will be the first Korean act to perform at multiple U.S. stadiums like El Paso, Foxborough, Arlington, and Baltimore. They’ll use a 360-degree stage for immersive concerts.
