Fan Faces Criticism for Supporting Eating Disorders Linked to Popular HYBE Male Idol

TXT’s Beomgyu is facing backlash after a fan’s fat-shaming comment on Weverse.
The controversy began when Beomgyu shared he’s been hooked on Dubai Chewy Cookies, a snack with about 500 calories per cookie. A fan responded by breaking down the calorie count, telling Beomgyu how much exercise would be needed to burn it off — 1500 pushups, 50 minutes on a stair master, or 1200 squats.
Here’s the fan’s post:

Beomgyu replied in a sad and honest way:
If you think about things in this way, you won’t be able to eat anything at all. But it’s a good thing I ate only one bite today.

The screenshots spread fast on X, where many fans blasted the calorie comment as unnecessary and harmful body policing.

The incident reignited talk about diet culture and eating pressures idols face. Fans warned that “informational” calorie comments can feed unhealthy mindsets in K-pop.
