Rejecting Capitalism: A Guide for Broke BTS Fans to Create an Affordable Lightstick

BTS is facing backlash over their new official lightstick, the Version 4 ARMY Bomb.
HYBE dropped a teaser for the lightstick, which hits the Weverse Shop on February 9 for $35.05 before tax. Fans say it looks sleek and pretty — but they’re calling it a cash-grab.
The controversy began when the company announced that wireless control for older BTS lightsticks will end after the May Las Vegas concert. From June’s Busan show onward, only the new VER. 4 lightstick will work wirelessly.
The problem? The previous, cheaper version is already sold out. Fans feel pressured to buy the more expensive new lightstick.
Fans are pushing back — with creativity. A DIY lightstick made from a mini flashlight, plastic lids, and tons of hot glue is going viral on X (formerly Twitter). The original post has 40,000+ likes and tons of fans loving the move against corporate greed.

Concert tickets are already pricey. Fans say they’re done feeding capitalism and turning to crafts instead.
