BTS Faces Backlash During Mexico Concert

BTS is facing backlash over a merch scandal at their Mexico stop on the BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG.

The controversy began when fans at Estadio GNP Seguros tried to buy official BTS merchandise but ran into major problems. What should have been a smooth merch sale turned chaotic as videos surfaced showing people without staff badges or uniforms loading large bags full of merch from the official tents.

Fans reported that purchase limits had already been tightened to one item per person, but these individuals appeared to be bulk-buying to resell at inflated prices.

Fans quickly reacted online with outrage. One tweeted:

this is CRAZY. @BIGHIT_MUSIC needs to sue the venue.

Another shared:

we’ve been in line for HOURS and they let resellers in first and they’re taking everything!!! 🙁 first the tickets and now the merch too. they’re saying they’re going to cancel the selling if we continue to tell them to stop. i’m so upset. #BTS #BTS_ARIRANG

ARMYs speculated that scalpers had inside help, with some claiming fans on-site were even “threatened.”

ARMY are calling on @HYBEOFFICIALtwt to intervene after the merch booth incident in Mexico. Fans lined up and waited from 4 AM, but after hours, resellers were prioritized by stadium staff to load all the merch onto trucks to resell—even threatening ARMY who spoke up.

Some fans are now demanding action from BTS’s agency, HYBE, while others doubt the agency can fix what they call “corruption” at the local level.

This is completely unacceptable. HYBE needs to address this—many armys have been patiently waiting in line for hours just to buy merch, only for resellers to buy bulk of them. Staffs who are distributing this merch should be held accountable.

I’m so sorry for ARMY Mexico. The level of corruption and shady schemes going on is insane—and this is at a local level.
Like, what exactly is HYBE supposed to do about that? These people were hired to provide a service and are favoring resellers for money. I’m 100% sure they’re not authorized to be doing that…

As the situation unfolded, fans remain frustrated while BTS prepares for the next leg of their tour in California and Nevada, USA.
