BTS V Attends Catholic Church During Military Service to Receive Baptismal Name

BTS’s V shared a surprising story about his military service involving the Catholic Church—and a bit of bribery.

During a recent Weverse Live, V revealed that while in basic training, some soldiers attend religious services on weekends. He wanted to try them all, including Catholic mass and Buddhist temple services.

In Korea, attendees at their first Catholic mass receive a baptismal name, a tradition not common in places like Europe or the US. Curious, V researched baptismal names and invited some military friends to join him at mass. When they asked what they’d get, he promised bread from the service.

V ended up convincing eight friends to attend with him. They all wanted baptismal names—some even joked about names like Mordekaiser, a character from League of Legends. V quickly shut that down, explaining that you can’t just pick any name.

It’s unclear if V actually got baptized, but some fans think they’ve found his baptismal name: Dionysius, after the saint—not the BTS song.
