Rain is in the spotlight after senior actress Oh Mi Hee shared a touching but surprising story about him.

The controversy started during the May 25 broadcast of MBN’s Body Insight. Oh Mi Hee appeared as a guest and brought up Rain. She said he once appeared on her radio show when he was rising to fame with How to Turn from the Sun.

Oh Mi Hee recalled a moment on the radio where she asked Rain about a gift he gave his mother.

“I asked Rain what gift he had given his mother, and he said, ‘My mother isn’t here.’ I felt really sorry,” Oh Mi Hee said.

She added,

“‘I’m sorry, I didn’t know,’ I said, and Rain replied, ‘Not everyone needs to know that my mother passed away.’ I felt both sorry and grateful as he comforted and cared for me when I was caught off guard.”

The actress apologized to Rain again during the music break for feeling apologetic.

Oh Mi Hee also said she gave Rain advice about popularity.

“I told him, ‘Your work depends on popularity, but popularity is like dancing. Dancing involves moving forward, backward, sideways, and sometimes pausing; popularity works the same way.’”

She said Rain just listened quietly at that time.

Later, Oh Mi Hee was surprised to hear that Rain mentioned her among people who shaped him in a documentary called Window of Asia.

“The broadcasting station called me, saying Rain said I was his ideal type. I thought, ‘No way,’” Oh Mi Hee laughed.

She said,

“Rain was a good listener. He said I gave him a hint about the kind of woman he should meet in the future.”

Rain expressed warmth and respect for Oh Mi Hee in the documentary.

“Someone who somehow evokes a nostalgic feeling about my mother and gave me a clue about the woman I might meet in the future,” he said.

Rain’s mother passed away in 2000 after battling diabetes for a long time.
