IVE Wonyoung Faces Backlash as Attitude Controversy Leads to Legal Complaint

IVE’s Jang Wonyoung is facing backlash after a formal complaint was filed with the Korea Airports Corporation linked to her viral airport “attitude controversy.”

On June 15, a complaint was submitted to the Security Management Division of Gimpo Airport’s operations unit. The complainant demands clearer, more detailed guidelines on identity checks at international departure gates. Specifically, they want to know if passengers must remove masks, hats, and sunglasses during the verification process.

The complaint argues these procedures should be clearly outlined and publicly accessible, not just explained by on-site staff. It also questions whether the same rules are applied consistently across all airports managed by the Korea Airports Corporation.

Jang Wonyoung is not the direct subject of the complaint, but the incident was triggered by a viral video of her going through an identity check at Gimpo Airport. In the clip, she follows staff instructions to adjust her mask and hat so her passport photo can be verified.

Soon after the video circulated, netizens criticized her expression and mannerisms, sparking the “attitude controversy.”
