Ador Calls on NewJeans to Restart Group Activities After Court Decision
The conflict between ADOR and NewJeans over the group’s management rights has taken a decisive turn following a recent court ruling. On June 17, the Seoul High Court dismissed the appeal filed by NewJeans’ members, effectively backing ADOR’s position. This decision confirms the earlier ruling from the Seoul Central District Court, which upheld ADOR’s claim to exclusive management rights and blocked the members from pursuing independent advertisements.
This legal showdown began when NewJeans argued their contracts ended in November 2024, alleging ADOR had breached terms. Following this, the members started engaging in individual promotions, stepping outside the agency’s control. ADOR pushed back by filing a lawsuit to confirm the contracts’ validity and sought an injunction to prevent the group members from independent activities.
With the court affirming ADOR’s legal status as the group’s management, the agency quickly responded. On June 18, they issued a statement expressing gratitude towards the court and urged the members to come back to group activities. ADOR also expressed commitment to supporting NewJeans as they approach their third debut anniversary in July, signaling hopes for a fresh start.
"Yesterday, the appeals court reaffirmed that ADOR is the agency representing NewJeans," the company said in their statement.
"We deeply thank the court for its decision."
"We hope this ruling serves as a turning point for the members to return to their rightful place as NewJeans and resume their group activities."
"As NewJeans approaches their third debut anniversary next month, we will do our utmost to support their continued growth and success."
"Thank you." ADOR
The dispute has attracted plenty of attention from fans and the K-pop community, who are eager to see NewJeans together again without the shadow of contract issues disrupting their activities. With this recent legal confirmation, it remains to be seen how the group and agency will move forward from here.
