Aespa’s Recent GRAMMYs Action Faces Backlash

aespa is facing controversy after SM Entertainment submitted them for “Best New Artist” at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The controversy began as fans showed initial pride in the big move. Soon after, social media exploded with mockery and heated debate.
SM pushed aespa for the category after a busy year. They released hits “Dirty Work” and “Rich Man” and made several U.S. appearances, including talk shows and live performances. The label is clearly aiming to boost their global reach.
Many netizens think the nomination push is unrealistic, mocking the group for being “new artists” after nearly six years in the industry.

Others slammed aespa’s live performances, pointing to previous criticism over their Good Morning America stage.

Some accused SM of setting the group up for backlash by pushing for an award that feels out of reach.

But not all fans agree. Many defended aespa, saying other K-pop groups like ENHYPEN and ATEEZ also submitted for “Best New Artist” without the same criticism.
No one said anything Abt enhypen OR ateez submitting for “best new artist” but when aespa did it basically it became a problem
proof y’all just want to hate on them for no reason

Enhypen and ateez submitted as well but ofcourse it’s gonna be a problem for twitter users when aespa does it, youll never convince me that the hate is not forced
