Ahn Hyo Seop Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Insights from ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’

The latest episode of The Seasons – Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile on KBS 2 TV aired on July 11 and brought some memorable moments with special guests, including singer Jung Yong Hwa, artist g0nny, rookie group HITGS, and actor Ahn Hyo Seop. What stood out most was the first-ever meeting between Ahn Hyo Seop and Park Bo Gum, who teamed up for a heartfelt music stage. Ahn Hyo Seop performed three songs—"Gather My Tears," "Love in My Arms," and "Thanks"—while Park Bo Gum played the piano alongside him.
During the conversation segment, Ahn Hyo Seop opened up about his role as the voice of Jinu in the recently released Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters. It turns out this was his first experience doing voice acting in English, which made him pretty nervous but also excited.
"This was the first time I acted in English. I was really nervous, but it was really fun. I enjoy animations, so I enjoyed watching the production process."

Park Bo Gum got curious about Ahn’s approach, asking if he acted by mimicking the character’s gestures and sounds. Ahn explained that often he was working with just sketches or rough animations, so he had to bring a lot of imagination to his performance.
"There were times I was given just the sketches, or a rough draft of the animation,"

He also shared the unique process of recording after hearing the other actors’ lines, which meant he had to react without being in the same room.
"I received a recording (of the other actors), and had to act after listening to it."

Park Bo Gum expressed how impressive this was, praising Ahn Hyo Seop for pulling off such a tough challenge solo.
"It must’ve been difficult, since you had to act basically alone. But it’s so amazing how you pulled it off so awesomely. It’s so impressive and cool."

The soundtrack has been a big hit too, with its album climbing all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
