ASTRO’s JinJin Granted Exemption from Military Service
JinJin (Park Jin-woo), the leader and main rapper of K-pop sensation ASTRO, has officially received an exemption from mandatory military service due to a health condition. This announcement came through a statement from his agency, Fantagio, on June 2.
In their message, Fantagio shared that JinJin underwent a thorough physical examination conducted by the Military Manpower Administration. They explained, “JinJin has been deemed unfit for military service following a detailed physical examination by the Military Manpower Administration, due to health issues related to an autoimmune disorder.”
The agency elaborated on his situation, noting that while JinJin manages daily life effectively, he needs regular hospital visits to handle his health issues. “While he does not have difficulties with daily life, he requires regular hospital visits for checkups and ongoing management. Based on the medical opinion that such specialized group living, like military service, would be difficult, he has received an exemption.”
In light of this news, Fantagio reassured fans by stating, “We will continue JinJin’s activities with his health as our top priority. We sincerely thank the fans for their continued support and ask for ongoing interest in JinJin’s future endeavors.”
Since their debut in February 2016 with the mini album Spring Up, JinJin has been a vital part of ASTRO. He has not only led the group but has also showcased his talents as a principal rapper and producer. His contributions include the special 8th anniversary single “Circles,” the touching duet “Fly” with the late ASTRO member Moonbin, and the recent collaborative single “Wave in My Heart” featuring rapper YUNHWAY.
