
Baekhyun of EXO Reflects on Personal Growth, Music, and Fan Appreciation in Recent Q&A
Baekhyun, a member of EXO and solo artist, has unveiled a Q&A interview coinciding with the release of his fifth mini album, "Essence of Reverie." The album delves into themes of reality and idealism, featuring seven tracks, with the title song “Elevator” embodying a romantic pop R&B vibe that compares a partner’s heart to an elevator.
In his latest interview, Baekhyun expressed his excitement about the album, stating:
“I’m really happy — I think it represents an upgraded version of myself!”
He explained the album’s title reflects his artistic evolution, aiming to resonate with listeners, including his fanbase, known as Eri. On his choice of “Elevator” as the title track, he shared:
“I loved the idea of expressing a loved one’s heart as an elevator… it amplifies my youthful charm.”
Baekhyun also provided insights into the music video for “Elevator,” mentioning the enjoyable camaraderie with dancers and the production team. He noted the video’s continuity with unreleased clips, encouraging fans to pay close attention.
He highlighted the importance of facial expressions and choreography in his live performances, hoping to convey the song’s essence. On releasing the track “Chocolate” ahead of schedule, the singer shared that he felt it deserved more recognition than being merely a B-side.
The album introduces a character named ‘Sweet-Sleep,’ a plush neck pillow aimed at enhancing sleep, aligning with the dreamlike theme of the album.
Baekhyun reflected on his musical identity, stating he wants to be remembered as “fan-loving,” “reliable,” and “humble.” Among the tracks, “Black Dreams” stood out to him, as it resonates with a special phrase he shares with his fans.
He acknowledged his ongoing collaboration with artist Colde, appreciating their musical synergy that started with the previous album. Describing his latest work in a single word, he chose “Love,” noting it embodies the affection he feels from his fans.
As he prepares for his first solo world tour starting in June, Baekhyun emphasized his commitment to making the experience worthwhile for his supporters. He concluded with a heartfelt message for Eri:
“I truly felt that you’re coexisting with me in my life… I really, truly made this album with you in mind.”
