Beloved Rom-Com Star’s Latest K-Drama Struggles Following Harsh Criticism

Kim Hye Yoon is facing backlash as her new 2026 SBS drama No Tail To Tell tanks in ratings and reviews.
The weekend K-Drama dropped from a 3.7% nationwide rating for Episode 1 to just 2.7% for Episode 2 on January 17, 2026, according to Nielsen Korea.
Fans quickly pointed out the main issues: terrible CGI, weak chemistry between leads Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon, and subpar acting and directing.
A viral clip showed the pair using super speed through Seoul with shockingly bad CGI:
“The CG quality in No Tail To Tell looks so low-budget, like it’s so stupid I’m honestly speechless.”

Critics slammed Kim Hye Yoon’s portrayal of a gumiho, saying:
“It’s understandable why the ratings are dropping. The female lead doesn’t suit the gumiho character at all, and her acting isn’t good.”
“Even if the leads give their best… This directing just isn’t it.”
“I already saw Shin Min Ah’s version of a gumiho, so this doesn’t draw me in at all.”
“Putting everything else aside, you can tell just from the poster that the two have zero chemistry.”
“I briefly saw clips on Twitter, and Hye Yoon’s acting felt exactly the same as in her other works, which was a bit disappointing.”
“It’s way too childish, and the acting tone is bad.”
“I know Hye Yoon can act well, but it feels like she picked the wrong tone here. She needs to dial it back at times, but everything sounds the same.”
“The writing, directing, and acting are all bad across the board—and the CG is terrible too.”
Further complaints called the drama childish with a poor script and awful soundtrack.
“It feels like they deliberately went with this kind of concept, and it should be funny, but it’s not funny at all LOL.”
“Is the directing and the script like a children’s drama again? With lines like that and that kind of acting, it just looks even worse. They hyped it up so much, said it was pre-produced and had plenty of time. So what exactly did they work on?”
“Even the pre-broadcast teasers were shocking. Did they do this on purpose? I can overlook the CG, but why does the acting look like it’s from a children’s drama?”
“CG isn’t even the main problem, the drama itself is a total mess.”
“Just from the clips it looks fun though? Is it a rom-com?”
“It feels like a children’s drama.”
“I get that the CG is bad, but the soundtrack is awful too. And what is that acting?”
Will No Tail To Tell turn it around? So far, fans aren’t convinced.
