BIGBANG’s Daesung Involved in Significant Advertising Fee Dispute

BIGBANG member Daesung is facing controversy over the advertising fee for his YouTube channel, ZIP Daesung.
The issue started when a franchise company official posted a part of a proposal they got from an agent. The proposal was for a PPL deal on ZIP Daesung, with filming on March 17 and upload on April 24. Guests listed were Donhae and Eunhyun of Super Junior.
The channel’s average views were said to be over 1.1 million. The price? ₩55 million KRW (about $38,200 USD).
The franchise official said they were unsure about the offer and insisted the info wasn’t confidential.
“I didn’t even request a quote. These production company writers or PDs send offer emails like spam every week.”

Netizens reacted with shock, calling the fee “too expensive.” Many wondered if dropping so much on one YouTube video makes sense.
Industry insiders pushed back. They said ₩30 million KRW (~$20,800 USD) is common for celebrity channels under 1 million subs. Rings in at ₩50 million+ KRW (~$34,700 USD) for channels with guaranteed 1 million views.
But ZIP Daesung only hit 1 million views on one out of eight recent videos. That raised eyebrows about whether the fee fits the channel’s actual reach.

Comments from insiders:
“If you want to use their name or image, you have to pay extra—suddenly it becomes 100 million won.”
“Even obscure YouTubers easily get 30 million won.”
“The more professional the content, the higher the rate lol. And while they do have followers, what matters even more is the number of views.”
“I’ve done a lot of YouTube PPLs, and with the rates included, we’ve sold them a lot. Those PPLs already cost tens of millions or even hundreds of millions…and if the content is reused, you have to pay an extra several million per month lol.”
“Oh, I’m jealous… lol.”

For now, the franchise company is rethinking the deal. The amount has sparked debate over fair pricing for YouTube content featuring top idols.
BIGBANG fans and netizens continue monitoring the situation.
