BLACKPINK Jisoo Faces Harsh Criticism for Poor Acting in New K-Drama

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is facing backlash over her acting in the new Netflix K-Drama Boyfriend On Demand.

Jisoo stars as Seo Mi Rae, an overworked webtoon producer who tries a virtual dating simulation to cope with her lonely life. She acts opposite Seo In Guk, who plays her colleague and rival, Park Gyeong Nam.

The drama’s first trailer dropped, and netizens didn’t hold back. Many slammed Jisoo’s acting as stiff and expressionless. Complaints flooded X (formerly Twitter) within hours of the trailer release.

Twitter user @organi5aTion said:

“Is she a robot in this drama? Why is she having just 1 express?”

Another netizen wrote:

“If she’s going to keep acting, I really wish she’d properly take some acting classes as a requirement………”

@b3omok commented:

“연기 계속 할 거면 연기 수업 좀 제재로 받앗으면 조켓어………..”
(If she’s going to continue acting, she should really take some acting classes as a must…)

Critics also questioned why Jisoo keeps getting lead roles.

@j_k_amis tweeted:

“ㅇㄴ근데왜여주가 지수야..? 제작사는 지수연기보고느끼는게없었나”
(But seriously, why is Jisoo the female lead…? Did the production company not feel anything seeing her acting?)

Fans compared her to Cha Eunwoo, another idol-actor frequently criticized for having a one-note expression.

Twitter user @Me0vv_Miyao posted a side-by-side shot:

“Eunwoo jisoo
Acting Skill”

The full drama will reveal if Jisoo can silence critics once it officially airs. For now, netizens remain divided and vocal on her acting skills.

Stay tuned as this unfolds.
