BTS Achieves 13th Platinum Certification in the U.S.
BTS has extended their lead as the K-pop group with the most RIAA Platinum certifications in the U.S., thanks to four new singles hitting over 1 million units in combined sales and streams. On June 24, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated their Gold & Platinum list, confirming that “Run,” “Blood Sweat & Tears,” “DNA,” and “Fake Love” have all earned Platinum status.
This latest update means BTS now hold 13 RIAA Platinum records, setting a higher bar than any other K-pop act. The group’s previous Platinum hits include “MIC Drop,” “Boy With Luv,” “IDOL,” and “Butter,” as well as full albums like Love Yourself: Answer, Map of the Soul: 7, and BE.
They’ve also reached some other impressive milestones in the U.S. In 2023, BTS made history as the first K-pop group to receive 5× Platinum certification — which means over 5 million units — for their massive hit “Dynamite.”
Alongside the new Platinum certifications, BTS added several Gold certifications to their roster. Songs like “Save ME,” “Spring Day,” “ON,” “Black Swan,” and “Permission to Dance” have all crossed the 500,000 units mark, earning that milestone from the RIAA.
The RIAA’s certification system works by awarding Gold status for 500,000 units, Platinum for 1 million, Multi-Platinum for 2 million, and Diamond for 10 million. This achievement highlights BTS’s sustained popularity and strong presence in the U.S. market over the years.
With these latest additions, BTS’s streak of impressive sales and streams in America continues to grow, reinforcing their status as global music leaders. Their extensive list of certified hits spans multiple albums and singles, showing how widely their music resonates with audiences across different markets.
