The controversy began when Korean media revealed that HYBE assigned BTS’s elite security team to a female idol rumored to be part of their new girl group. That idol was none other than Sakura.

On August 27, 2021, nearly nine months before LE SSERAFIM debuted in May 2022, Sakura arrived at Incheon International Airport around 7 PM KST. Her security was described as “ironclad,” with HYBE-related bodyguards, known for protecting BTS, closely guarding her.
