Ex-HYBE Trainee Responds to Backlash Following NJZ Dispute

Harin is under fire after opening up about being dropped from a pre-debut HYBE project linked to NewJeans.
The Japanese-born model and former idol trainee revealed on Takeda Hiromitsu’s YouTube channel that she was once part of Source Music’s debut team—believed to be N-Team, the group that eventually evolved into NewJeans under ADOR.
Harin said she got a sudden termination notice before debut, forcing her to abandon her idol dreams.
“Right before debut, due to a sudden company decision, I had to give up my dream of becoming an idol. One day, I was suddenly told to terminate my contract and was the only one given the notice to ‘leave,’ so I had to immediately get on a plane back home.”
The news quickly sparked backlash online. Harin’s social media blew up with malicious comments, pushing her to issue an official statement on August 14, 2025.
“What I shared in the interview was simply my deeply personal feelings of frustration and disappointment from the past, not an attempt to criticize or expose any specific company or individual.” — Harin
She added that despite the tough time, she supports the ex-teammates she “laughed and cried with” and promised to work on herself going forward.
“It was certainly a difficult time for me, but at the same time, it was also a valuable opportunity and period that made me stronger. Even now, I continue to support the members I laughed and cried with back then! I’ll work harder to improve on my shortcomings and show you a better side of me.” — Harin
The controversy escalated as fans debated her claims of being axed right before debut and questioned if any shade was directed toward NewJeans.
Harin’s situation is still evolving as the K-pop community watches closely.
