Ex-NCT Member Taeil Appears for Initial Trial in Quasi-Rape Case on June 18 KST

The first court hearing for former NCT member Taeil (Moon Tae Il) is happening today, June 18 KST, after being postponed from its original date of May 12. The Seoul Central District Court’s 26th Criminal Division is handling the case.

Back in March, Taeil and two other individuals were indicted without detention by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Women and Children Crimes Investigation Division 1, led by Chief Prosecutor Kim Ji Hye. They face charges of aggravated quasi-rape under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The accusation involves the alleged sexual assault of an intoxicated woman last June.

This particular charge of aggravated quasi-rape is applied because the crime was reportedly committed by two or more people while the victim was unconscious or otherwise unable to resist. Taeil is accused alongside two acquaintances.

Taeil first got his start in 2016 as a member of NCT U, the initial subgroup of NCT, and later appeared with NCT 127. After details of his involvement in this crime surfaced, SM Entertainment swiftly announced his departure from the group and officially terminated his exclusive contract last October.
