Ex-NCT Member Taeil Given 3.5-Year Prison Sentence for Aggravated Rape in Preliminary Court Decision

On July 10 at around 2 PM KST, the Seoul Central District Court’s 26th criminal division handed down a prison sentence to former NCT member Taeil, 31, and two other defendants. All three were sentenced to 3 years and 6 months behind bars for aggravated assault. Along with their prison terms, the court mandated that they complete 40 hours of educational programming focused on sexual violence.
In addition, these individuals must register as sex offenders in their places of residence. They are also prohibited from working in jobs involving children and youths for the next five years.
The case stems from an incident that occurred last June involving a female victim of Chinese nationality. Taeil and his accomplices admitted during the trial that they sexually assaulted the victim while she was intoxicated.
Facing an imprisonment sentence, the court also issued arrest warrants for Taeil and the other two defendants.
