Fashionable Actor Ridiculed For “Beggar” Look Before Stunning Audience With Unexpected Price Disclosure

Lee Dong Hwi is facing laughs and shock over his “beggar” outfit on I Live Alone.
The controversy started when the actor showed up at Seoul Station wearing a vintage-look outfit full of holes and heavy distressing. Everyone on the show, including Jun Hyun Moo, joked he looked like “Pumbaa,” a Korean nickname for a beggar. Code Kunst joined in, teasing Lee Dong Hwi for the ragged look.
Jun Hyun Moo said,
“That outfit has turned him into Pumbaa.”
People even joked Lee Dong Hwi might have tripped because the clothes looked so worn out.
Lee Dong Hwi later explained it was all intentional and part of his personal style. He carefully chose each item from brands he really likes.
Then came the surprise twist. His “holey” outerwear? It’s a designer piece priced at ₩3.86 million KRW (about $2,680 USD).

The revelation flipped the whole joke. What looked cheap was actually high fashion. The cast and viewers were left stunned.
Fans are divided though. Some can’t believe anyone’s willing to pay so much for such “damaged” looking clothes.

Social media reactions:
- “Only someone known nationwide can wear that. Others would look homeless.”
- “If you wash that once, it might rip apart completely.”
- “The world of luxury is truly incomprehensible.”
- “He fits right in with the pigeon lady from Home Alone.”
Lee Dong Hwi’s risky look might be fashion, but it’s definitely dividing opinions.

This episode aired recently on MBC’s I Live Alone with Lee Dong Hwi and Code Kunst heading to Busan.
