Former NCT’s Taeil Admits Guilt in Aggravated Rape Case

Taeil is facing heavy backlash after admitting to aggravated rape charges in court. On September 17, the Seoul High Court’s 11-3 Criminal Division held the first appeal trial for Taeil and two others. They appeared in brown prison uniforms. Both sides argued against the initial three-and-a-half-year sentence, calling it “unfair.”
The controversy began in March when Taeil was indicted without detention. He was accused of sexually assaulting a drunken foreign woman with two acquaintances in June 2024.
During the hearing, Taeil admitted guilt and addressed the court.
“I acknowledge all my sins and reflect on them. Above all, I know that words or actions cannot completely heal the wounds the victim feels. Nevertheless, I take this opportunity to offer my sincere apology.”

He continued with another statement.
“I will live the rest of my life atoning for my sins. I will never commit a crime again. I will live honestly, never forgetting the weight of the law. I once again apologize for the harm I have caused. I am truly sorry.”
– Taeil
The case has drawn major attention as Taeil directly admitted to his crimes in court.
His sentencing is set for October 17 at 2:30 PM KST.
