Guardian: The Lonely And Great God Actor Achieves Historic Career Milestone

Choi Woong just made big headlines—not on a drama set, but on the tennis court.

The actor won the “Yangpyeong Okcheon Cup Open Division Tennis Tournament” on May 31, 2026 (KST). This is a big deal. He’s the first celebrity to win at this highly competitive open division level.

Choi teamed up with South African tennis coach Andy in doubles to take down tough players, including former business team athletes and coach-level competitors. The open division is a serious level of recreational tennis, and Choi is not a professional athlete.

This win adds to his growing tennis achievements. Last year, he won the rookie division at a national tournament—the first male celeb to do so. Now he’s stepped up to win the open division.
