ILLIT Faces Allegations of Copying NewJeans’ Choreography for Latest Track

ILLIT is facing backlash after fans spotted similarities between their new choreography and NewJeans’ iconic dance.

The controversy began at ILLIT’s PRESS START concert in Seoul. They performed a new track called “NOT ME,” and soon after, clips leaked online. Fans quickly compared parts of the choreography—especially the bench formation—to NewJeans’ “Cookie” dance.

Fans didn’t hold back on Twitter. One user wrote:

whole time glitts hating on cookie when their faves are copying everything down
— manuel is here for NJZ and OnePact#freenewjeans (@supershymanuell)

Another added:

Glitts will look at you dead in the eyes and tell you this doesn’t look similar at all
— ᥫ᭡.ִֶָ𓂃 (@nwjeanmixx)

As clips spread, the debate heated up. Many argued the choreography was too close to ignore, accusing ILLIT of copying NewJeans.

choreography so good that belift had to steal it right after their fandom dragged it

The irony stung for NewJeans fans, given how “Cookie” lyrics sparked past controversy over alleged sexual connotations. Now, “NOT ME” — a track about owning your identity — is seen as a direct clash.

A song about having your own identity and name while they’re copying another group… I’m crying
— Eva (@Evahzt)

No official response from ILLIT or their agency yet. The online argument continues to divide fans.
