ITZY Yuna’s Controversial Pose in Advertisement for Male-Oriented Product Faces Backlash

ITZY’s Yuna is facing controversy over a recent Shinhan Bank ad.

The controversy began after an ad for Shinhan Bank’s Nara Sarang Card featuring Yuna started circulating online.

The card is mainly issued to Korean men for military benefits. So many questioned why a female idol was chosen as the model — especially why Yuna was posed in what people call a “provocative” stance.

One viral comment slammed the ad, calling the pose inappropriate for the product’s target demographic and criticizing Shinhan Bank’s judgment.

Only Korean men can use the Nara Sarang card, so why are they making a woman hold it and stand like that? Shinhan Bank is f*cking lagging behind. Plus, they also had a hiring controversy where they only chose men and not women, so why aren’t they making a man hold the card and pose like that?

As the tweet spread, reactions divided. Some agreed the ad was too sexualized.

When that pose got famous as the ‘Seolhyun pose,’ I thought it was because she looked beautiful turning around. I really didn’t care. But after I had to go on a male-dominated community site for work-related stuff, I found out that it got popular because it was ‘a pose where you can see a woman’s chest and butt at the same time.’ I barely swallowed my lunch that day. It’s so hard to live.

Others just cut ties with Shinhan Bank altogether.

Was terrible to have met you, let’s never cross paths again.

The situation has reignited debates about how female idols are styled in ads, especially when promoting products not aimed at women.
