This thoughtful donation aims to support young people getting ready for independence and also help improve living conditions for children with disabilities.
Specifically, 62 million KRW went to Eden I Ville. These funds will help build safe spaces for teens supporting themselves and also cover Children’s Day gifts and activities.
Another 90 million KRW was given to Hansarang Village and Hansarang Infant Care Center for Children with Disabilities.
This portion will be used to replace old boilers, cover medical and rehabilitation costs, and provide gifts for the children, directly helping improve their day-to-day lives.
Since her debut in 2008, the K-pop star has consistently made donations on meaningful occasions like her debut anniversary, birthdays, and holidays, always using the combined name ‘IUaena’.
Her dedication to philanthropy was recognized in 2019 when Forbes Asia included her in their Heroes of Philanthropy list as the youngest person featured.
Just this past March, she also donated 200 million KRW to support wildfire recovery efforts in Gyeongsang Province and improve working conditions for firefighters.
On the entertainment front, IU recently impressed audiences by playing two roles in the Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ and is currently preparing for her next project, ‘The Queen of Tears in the 21st Century’.
