Ive Impresses on Japanese Television with Debut Performance of ‘Dare Me’

Boldly stepping further into the Japanese market, IVE made a fresh splash on June 14 with a memorable appearance on NHK’s hit music program, ‘Venue 101’. The group treated viewers to the very first televised performance of their Japanese original track, ‘DARE ME’. Alongside the performance, they took part in a fun talk segment, chatting about favorite songs from ten years ago, sharing what they like to eat, and playing a light “apartment game,” showing off their playful sides.

For the show, the members wore coordinated shades of red that matched their upbeat vibe. Their stage delivery of ‘DARE ME’ was marked by dreamy vocals and clever choreography, featuring benches as props. The dance included synchronized moments, like the paired moves between Gaeul and Rei, and between An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung, which brought out the warm and emotional feel of the song. Released back on April 21, ‘DARE ME’ serves as the opening theme for the Japanese NTV Sunday drama ‘Dame Mane! – Unpopular Talent, Now Under Management!’.

This latest exposure helped ‘DARE ME’ maintain solid positions on multiple Japanese music charts. The single landed on Billboard Japan’s ‘Hot Shot Songs’ and ‘Download Songs’ charts, appeared in LINE Music’s weekly ‘Top 100’, and showed up on Rakuten Music’s latest weekly list — all signals of IVE’s growing popularity in Japan.

The group’s momentum in Japan isn’t new. In 2024, IVE performed at major events like ‘Summer Sonic 2024’, the biggest music festival in the country, and made stylish appearances at the ‘Tokyo Girls Collection’ fashion show. Their world tour, ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE’, marked a milestone as they became the first Korean act to perform at K-Arena Yokohama, and they also made their debut at the iconic Tokyo Dome, an achievement many artists aim for.

Adding to that success, their Japanese fan concert saga, ‘IVE SCOUT IN JAPAN’, toured four cities and attracted a huge crowd of over 100,000 fans, cementing their status as rising stars in the region. Not long ago, the group also appeared on the well-known YouTube music channel ‘THE FIRST TAKE’, delivering an impressive one-take live vocal performance of ‘After LIKE’ that left viewers talking.

In addition to activities overseas, IVE is keeping busy at home, currently promoting the sixth season of their own reality show ‘1.2.3 IVE’. Fans get to see more of the members’ charm and personalities through these varied projects.
