IVE’s Wonyoung Displays Hidden Competitive Spirit in New Episode of ‘1,2,3 IVE’
On June 6, IVE released the fifth episode of their YouTube series ‘1,2,3 IVE Season 6’, titled ‘IVE’s K-POP Operation,’ giving fans a fun and revealing look at the group’s dynamic, with a surprising spotlight on member Wonyoung’s determination.
The episode kicked off with the members—Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo—drawing cards that had different amounts of gems. Rei was clearly happy pulling three gems, while Leeseo wasn’t so lucky and asked for a redraw after getting zero. When the production team mentioned there were ways to earn more gems through upcoming missions, Yujin lightened the mood with the playful comment:
"I’m the real gem." Yujin
Wonyoung, having no other option as the last to pick, coolly joked:
"You were waiting for me." Wonyoung
That confidence set the tone for the rest of the episode, which centered around a series of K-POP-themed games and challenges fitting for a group so deeply connected to the genre.
Before diving into the main activities, the six members warmed up by dancing to some iconic tracks: their own hit "TKO," Orange Caramel’s “Magic Girl,” and ITZY’s “DALLA DALLA.” Each brought their own flair to the moves, showing off their individual styles while getting in sync as a team.
The first game, “Save the Mic,” had everyone singing and dancing full out. Competition got intense especially during the last round between Liz and Rei. Despite Rei being distracted by enjoying T-ara’s “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” Liz managed to pull ahead and claim victory. From there, the group moved on to playful and inventive challenges, such as “Random Curling,” where they used random items, having a blast throughout.
One of the standout moments came in “Unity Karaoke.” The goal was to hit a perfect score of 100 while singing songs randomly picked for them. Even when some tracks were unfamiliar, the members impressed by completing their performances flawlessly on the first try. Yujin and Gaeul added a special touch by dramatically reciting lyrics, which gave the challenge a fun theatrical edge.
Other game highlights included the “Dance Challenge,” “National Singing Contest,” “Guess the K-POP Song,” and the “K-POP Emoji Game.” At first, Wonyoung seemed a little unsure about her chances, admitting she might not do well. However, she surprised everyone by showing quick thinking and energy during the emoji game, ultimately winning first place. Yujin, who has known Wonyoung for eight years, joked about her unexpected enthusiasm:
