J-Hope Faces Backlash After Naming BTS’s Dream Stage
J-Hope faces backlash after revealing BTS’s dream stage is the Super Bowl.
The BTS rapper appeared on choreographer Kany Diabaté’s YouTube show Finding Kany, where he named the Super Bowl as BTS’s ultimate dream stage. Discussing their latest release ARIRANG, J-Hope said:
“Super Bowl.”
Kany immediately responded with excitement, urging NFL and Super Bowl organizers to invite BTS for the 2027 halftime show.
“Super Bowl people! NFL whatever, you have to call BTS call them for the next one 2027,” Kany said.
The clip quickly sparked controversy online. Fans brought up Jungkook’s missed chance to perform at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show with Usher. Jungkook was reportedly invited but couldn’t attend due to his mandatory military service, a decision made by their label.
“Jungkook was previously invited to join Usher on stage at the Super Bowl for a performance of Standing Next to You, but couldn’t attend due to his military service,” a tweet noted.
This led to accusations against HYBE, with many fans claiming the company prioritized BTS as a group over Jungkook’s solo opportunity, effectively blocking his Super Bowl debut.
“Here’s the answer why Hybe didn’t let Jungkook to perform at Super Bowl,” one fan tweeted.
“Its clear NONE of them wanted jungkook to be the first kpop act to perform at the superbowl. I can guess who was the first one to protest against this. Fuck this company. Fuck this group.. Jungkook will rise higher than them again,” another wrote.

Despite the backlash, many ARMYs expressed support for J-Hope’s dream. However, some worried about BTS facing a conservative American audience if they perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.
