Jennie Is the Sole K-pop Artist on Billboard’s Mid-Year Best Albums List

BLACKPINK’s Jennie has hit a major milestone with her first full-length solo album, Ruby, which dropped on June 24. Not only did the album capture fans’ attention, but it also earned serious recognition in the industry. Billboard just named Ruby one of the "50 Best Albums of 2025 So Far," and it’s the only K-pop album to make the list.

What stood out to Billboard was how Ruby carries “a debut project radiating confidence, elegance, and fierce energy.” They pointed to Jennie’s strong and bold lyrics, along with her powerful presence throughout the album. Each song ties back to a clear theme that reflects Jennie’s unique artistic identity.

Billboard also described Ruby as “rare, authentic, and multidimensional," appreciating how it shows not just Jennie’s individuality but her growth as an artist.

Before Billboard’s nod, Ruby had already been recognized by other major outlets. Both Rolling Stone and Complex included Jennie’s album on their lists of the best albums of 2025. The album itself includes 15 tracks, all produced by Jennie, with “like JENNIE” as its standout title track.
