Jennie Prevails in Legal Case Against Man Falsely Claiming to Be Her Father

BLACKPINK’s Jennie has successfully shut down false claims made by a man who insisted he was her biological father and even published a book to back up his story. The Uijeongbu District Court Goyang Branch delivered a clear verdict on May 9, 2025, ruling that these allegations are completely baseless and ordered the destruction of all related publications.

The legal dispute started when a man referred to only as A released an AI-generated novel featuring Jennie’s name and logo right on the cover. The book’s prologue shockingly claimed that Jennie was his daughter. This sparked wild rumors among fans online, with some speculating about Jennie’s family background being wealthy or influential—rumors that hadn’t been true.

Jennie’s side, represented by OA Entertainment and backed by top Korean law firm Yulchon, didn’t stay silent. They announced on September 6, 2024, plans to take legal action. The agency later filed an injunction on December 24, 2024, seeking to stop further dissemination of A’s book. The lawsuit named both A and his publishing company B as defendants.

The court found no evidence beyond A’s own word to back his claim. In fact, Jennie’s official family registry shows someone else as her father. The judge made this clear:

““There is no supporting evidence for the defendant’s claim aside from his own statements,”
“Meanwhile, the plaintiff’s official family registry clearly identifies another man as her father. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that the defendant’s claim is untrue.”” Uijeongbu District Court Goyang Branch

Because of A’s actions, false information spread that hurt Jennie’s reputation. The court ordered all copies of the book to be destroyed and ruled that A can no longer mention Jennie anywhere—not on social media, including platforms like KakaoTalk, nor in interviews.

Though the court acknowledged A violated Jennie’s personal rights, no fines or provisional enforcement were applied since the case didn’t revolve around property damage. However, the defendants are responsible for all the legal fees.

This decision highlights how seriously courts are taking the issue of impersonation and misinformation, especially with AI-generated content blurring reality and fiction. Jennie’s victory serves as a warning that making false claims about public figures in today’s digital world won’t go unchallenged.
