Lead Role Casting for Upcoming Film Faces Harsh Backlash

Jung Woo Sung is facing backlash over his casting in a new historical film.
He’s reportedly in talks to play Han Myeong Hoe in the movie Sal Saeng Bu (working title), set during the Coup of 1453 and directed by Kim Hong Sun.
The controversy began because K-Netizens just saw Yoo Ji Tae nail the same role in The King’s Warden, which drew over 16 million viewers. Fans aren’t happy about Jung Woo Sung stepping into this character next.
Most reactions online are negative.
Many comments slammed his acting skills and questioned why he got the part:
“But he can’t act…why would they use him?”
“Jung Woo Sung? For the role of Han Myeong Hoe? Did they not have another actor? Why?”
“Practice your acting, ajussi.”
Others think the similar storyline is getting old and want fresh content:
“Similar movies are coming out endlessly ever since ‘The King’s Warden’ success.”
“Stop using the same storyline…seeing Yoo Ji Tae show off a refreshing new image was enough.”
Some even called out his diction and ability for traditional film:
“Why would you use him if he can’t act? His diction sucks, too. How is he going to pull a traditional style film?”

Jung Woo Sung’s casting comes after past personal life controversies, adding fuel to the fire.
Fans remain skeptical about his comeback with this role.
