Leading Actor’s Instagram Overwhelmed With Negative Comments—Fans Confused By Cause

Jo In Sung is facing heavy backlash over his silence on recent exchange rate hikes.
The controversy began after Jo’s comments about the December 3 Martial Law Declaration exchange rate surge came back under fire. Netizens blasted him for not speaking about the current rate spike near 1,520 won.
On March 20, Jo posted on Instagram thanking a health product company for six years of partnership. The post now has over 2,200 comments—way more than his usual 200-900 comments per post.
Many comments demanded Jo address the exchange rate now. They referenced his March 4 statement on MBC’s Questions with Sohn Suk Hee, where he said:
“That was the biggest issue,”
explaining that
“the increase in production costs was especially critical since we had to stay overseas.”

Critics wrote:
“You said you couldn’t film movies because the exchange rate rose during martial law—so why are you silent now when it’s in the mid-1,500 won range? Prices are much higher than back then. You should speak up.”
“The exchange rate is around 1,520 won now—care to say something? Is it fine now? The country’s falling apart.”
Other comments include:
- “The exchange rate is skyrocketing like crazy right now—did we lose the country or what? Why don’t you share your thoughts now?”
- “So you couldn’t film movies because the exchange rate was high? But now it’s high again, and you’re not saying anything.”
- “Jo In Sung, what do you think about the exchange rate right now? Just say one word.”
- “You made a big deal when it hit 1,400 during martial law—what about 1,500 now? Please say something consistently.”
Supporters also pushed back against the negativity, saying:
“What they’re doing isn’t helpful to anyone at all, but he handled it well LOL. What exactly improves by acting like that?”
“Please sue them. Money is the best remedy.”
“I already liked him, but now I really like him.”
Some noticed many comments came from fake accounts, adding to the confusion.
