Leading K-Drama Actress’ Home Confiscated by Management Company
Hwang Jung Eum is facing a new legal battle with her former agency, Y1 Entertainment.
Y1 Entertainment filed a provisional seizure on Hwang’s luxury detached home in Itaewon. The Seoul Central District Court accepted the request on February 10. The seizure targets her property valued at about ₩4.60 billion KRW (~$3.19 million USD). The claimed amount is ₩282 million KRW (~$196,000 USD).
The fallout began after Y1 Entertainment terminated their contract with Hwang. The reason? Hwang’s one-person agency was not registered as a popular culture and arts planning business. Y1 cut ties on November 27, 2025, and officially ended their exclusive contract.
“On November 27, 2025, we notified Hwang Jung Eum of the termination of her exclusive contract, and the notice was accepted. The exclusive contract between both parties has already ended. Accordingly, we clearly state that we have no involvement or responsibility whatsoever regarding Hwang Jung Eum’s current and future activities, personal matters, or any related issues. We do not plan to make any further statements or responses regarding this matter.”

Hwang’s troubles don’t stop there. Last year, she was indicted without detention for embezzling corporate funds. She allegedly took ₩700 million KRW (~$486,000 USD) from loans her personal agency received and invested it in cryptocurrency. Total embezzled funds are reported around ₩4.34 billion KRW (~$3.01 million USD).
She repaid the money later, partly with real estate assets. In September 2025, she was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for four years.
The drama between Hwang and Y1 continues to escalate as the seizure of her home adds fuel to the fire.
