NCT Dream Hosts Press Conference for Time-Travel Concept Album ‘Go Back To The Future’

NCT Dream officially dropped their 5th full album, Go Back To The Future, on July 14 at 6 p.m. KST across major global music platforms. The album brings a fresh time-travel concept, adding another layer to their storytelling legacy that’s been a big part of their identity over the years.

Just two days before the release, the group held a press conference at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul. They also reflected on their recent concert at Gocheok Sky Dome on July 12, where they celebrated their connection with fans. Jaemin expressed his gratitude, saying,

"It’s all thanks to Czennies who fill up the venue every time. If people left the show thinking, ‘It was worth seeing a DREAM concert,’ that alone makes it worthwhile for us. Since we’re kicking off this new album through the tour, we’ll show many different sides of ourselves and present a worldwide performance." Jaemin

The album’s title track, "BTTF," brings choreography that challenges the members physically. Jisung shared,

"Honestly, this might be the most physically demanding dance we’ve ever done. Performing just the first verse feels like finishing an entire song. You can look forward to it." Jisung

Jeno added that there’s more to the dance than just the movement, noting how the choreography ties into the album’s theme.

"If you pay close attention to the choreography, you’ll see how it reflects the theme of time travel. It’ll be fun to watch the details." Jeno

Mark gave some insight into why the group leaned into time travel as the concept for this album. Nearly hitting their 10-year mark as a group, they wanted the album to represent a new, mature chapter while keeping their signature storytelling and positive messages.

"I don’t think there’s another group with storytelling as rich as DREAM. We’re proud of that. Now that we’re nearly 10 years in, we have a lot to say. We’ve always wanted to convey a positive message and ambition. This album is our way of showing a more mature version of ourselves through a complete, well-rounded work. We had a lot of fun immersing ourselves in it while preparing." Mark

With their 9th debut anniversary coming up next month, members reflected on their journey and what’s next. Jisung mentioned how meaningful it is to still be active and performing, especially after a quieter start to the year.

"I’m really grateful we’ve been active for nine years. It’s something we’re proud of—that we’re still able to perform concerts at this point. We were relatively quiet in the first half of the year, but we’ll be super busy in the second half and show you our best." Jisung

Haechan, on the other hand, captured that youthful spark that’s still alive in the group, promising more activity and hinting at a surprise later this year.

"Even though it’s our 9th anniversary, our passion feels like we debuted just 9 days ago. We’ll be active with promotions and touring this year, and I think there might be something fun toward the end of the year… that’s all I’ll say for now." Haechan

Addressing what they hope fans take away from this comeback, Haechan emphasized the group’s ambition behind the world-building and performances.

"First, we really want to get our ambitious world-building across to fans. The performance and everything else—our company and team put everything into this. I hope our passion reaches the fans." Haechan

These comments and the new album mark an exciting chapter for NCT Dream, blending maturity with their trademark storytelling style as they celebrate their ongoing journey. Fans worldwide can now stream Go Back To The Future and look forward to seeing the group’s evolving sides throughout their upcoming tour.
