NewJeans and KATSEYE Featured on Billboard’s ’21 Under 21′ List
NewJeans and KATSEYE have been recognized in Billboard’s annual ’21 Under 21′ list, which celebrates influential artists under twenty-one years old. The announcement came on May 16 as Billboard assessed artists based on album sales, streaming numbers, and their overall impact in the music industry.
NewJeans has secured a position on the list for the second year in a row. Despite recent legal disputes involving their agency, ADOR, and parent company HYBE, Billboard noted the group’s persistent presence atop the charts. "Though NewJeans have made headlines in recent months due to legal tensions with HYBE, their chart dominance last year speaks to their fans’ unwavering passion," the magazine stated. Their 2023 album ‘Get Up’ was highlighted for achieving an additional 220,000 sales last year and reaching No. 3 on Billboard’s year-end World Albums chart.
Making their debut on the list, KATSEYE, a global girl group launched by HYBE and Geffen Records in June 2023, was acknowledged for their growing influence. The group’s hit single ‘Touch’ and their forthcoming mini album ‘Beautiful Chaos’, set to release next month, were pointed out as key factors in their rising prominence.
Other notable names on the 2024 list include singer-songwriter D4vd, who plans to perform in Korea this November, and Jessie Murph, who recently took the stage at the U.S. music festival Coachella.
