NJZ Appears In Court For A Move That May Alter The Course Of Their Case

NJZ members Danielle and Minji face lawsuit mediation over contract dispute

On August 14, NJZ (formerly NewJeans) members Danielle and Minji attended a mediation hearing at Seoul Central District Court. The lawsuit was filed by ADOR, seeking a court confirmation of its exclusive contracts with the group.

The legal battle started earlier this year amid conflict between former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and parent company HYBE. HYBE, owning 80% of ADOR, accused Min of trying to take control of management. Min claimed HYBE interfered with ADOR’s creative independence and the management of NJZ. The dispute went public quickly, with statements and legal filings from both sides.

In May, ADOR sued all five NJZ members. The company wants to affirm that the idols’ contracts are still valid. Reports said some members, through lawyers, tried to end or renegotiate their deals. The August 14 mediation aims to avoid a drawn-out trial.

Danielle and Minji’s appearance was one of the few NJZ public moments tied directly to the case. They arrived separately and drew media and fan attention.

The court could issue a final ruling in October if mediation fails. This legal process will heavily impact NJZ’s future, as the group has been a major commercial and critical success.

Both parties remain firm. The K-pop industry is watching closely to see how this will affect NJZ’s career.
