BTS’ V recently revealed he almost gave up on his dream of becoming a singer, grabbing major attention from fans.

The BTS member shared this story during his appearance on Fairy Jaehyung’s YouTube channel. When asked when he first dreamed of being a singer, V said it started in elementary school, inspired by his grandmother.

When I was in elementary school, we were told to choose a career ending in ‘-sa.’ I was the only one who said I wanted to be a singer. My grandmother told me, ‘Singers are people like this, and actors are people like that.’

Jung Jaehyung praised V’s family for supporting his dream, which is rare. He also joked that V’s visuals alone could carry the episode.

V then opened up about nearly giving up on his dream because of actor Kang Dong Won’s looks. His grandmother showed him a banner of Kang’s face, saying,

Those are the kinds of people who become [celebrities].

This made V doubt himself, thinking he could never become someone like Kang. But his love for music and performing kept him going. He recalled getting pocket money for dancing a few minutes, calling it his “own kind of happiness.” Those moments fueled his passion to be on stage.
