RIIZE’s Wonbin wanted stage name Alex over sharing actor Won Bin’s name
RIIZE’s Wonbin said he wanted to debut under the stage name “Alex” because he felt burdened by sharing his name with actor Won Bin.
An SM Entertainment idol revealed the story on the YouTube variety show Sana’s Fridge Interview, which recently released a video titled “The Return of the Introverted Hunter,” featuring RIIZE’s Wonbin. He had previously caught attention from K-pop fans for his appearance matching his name at the time of his debut.
Wonbin said:
“When I debuted, actor Won Bin was so famous and well-known for being handsome that I once said I couldn’t debut under the name ‘Wonbin’ myself”
“It was such a burden.”
“I was afraid people might criticize me a lot. It was really such a burden that I wanted to debut under a different name”
He revealed the stage name he had considered: “Alex,” which brought laughter.
