On January 12, tvN released its 2026 drama lineup on its official YouTube channel. Second Signal, expected in the first half of 2026, was missing.

Second Signal is the sequel to the hit 2016 drama Signal. It was meant to celebrate Signal’s 10th anniversary and tvN’s 20th anniversary.

Filming was completed last August with Jo Jin Woong starring alongside Lee Je Hoon and Kim Hye Soo. They aimed for a June 2026 release.

But in December, Jo Jin Woong’s past as a juvenile offender came to light. This raised questions about whether the drama would air as planned.

Jo Jin Woong officially stepped down from acting, saying:

“I sincerely apologize to those who trusted and relied on me for the past regrettable incident”

“I humbly accept all criticism and will cease all activities from today, marking the end of my acting career.”

tvN responded about Second Signal’s schedule, saying:

“To protect the value of Signal, we will take whatever time is necessary and exhaust all efforts to find the optimal solution for the work and our viewers.”

The fate of Second Signal remains uncertain as fans and the industry await tvN’s next move.
