SEVENTEEN Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Impactful Comeback

[SEVENTEEN] celebrated its 10th debut anniversary in style with the launch of their fifth studio album, ‘Happy Burstday’, on May 26, 2025, KST. This release stands out as a representation of the group’s journey over the past decade and their ambitions for the future.

The title ‘Happy Burstday’ cleverly combines "Happy Birthday" and "Burst," symbolizing a dynamic rebirth for the group. This notion of explosion and renewal is echoed throughout the album, inviting listeners to experience a fresh chapter of [SEVENTEEN]’s musical evolution.

The album is packed with 16 tracks, and for the first time, it features solo songs from all members, including group tracks like ‘Thunder’, ‘HBD’, and ‘Bad Influence’. This approach highlights not just their collective artistry but also each member’s individual talent and creativity.

Leading the album is the title track, ‘Thunder’, an EDM-infused dance-pop piece with a catchy chorus that uses storms as metaphors. As S.Coups noted, > "We’ve taken on many challenges as [SEVENTEEN], and this song reflects our confidence in showing new facets of ourselves. We hope listeners can feel our renewed energy."

Commercially, ‘Happy Burstday’ is off to an impressive start, achieving around 2.27 million copies sold on its first day, making it the highest first-day sales of 2025 on the Hanteo Chart. It dominated Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Chart for two consecutive days, with over 343,000 copies sold by May 27, 2025, JST.

The lead single ‘Thunder’ made waves by debuting at No. 7 on Melon’s Top 100, hitting No. 1 by midnight on May 27, 2025, KST. The song soared to the top spot on iTunes charts in 13 regions and landed at No. 7 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart as well.

Critics have been quick to appreciate the album’s diverse concept: UK music magazine Clash has dubbed ‘Happy Burstday’ as > "a bold work where energy, individuality, and reinvention harmonize—not merely a 10th-anniversary celebration but a declaration of rebirth." Billboard echoed these sentiments, pointing out that ‘Thunder’ > "demonstrates [SEVENTEEN]’s continued musical achievements for the next decade and beyond."

Reflecting on this remarkable success, S.Coups expressed, > "Receiving such a significant gift on our 10th anniversary feels incredible. I’m thankful to our fans, CARATs, and my members who’ve worked hard together. Let’s continue this journey for the next 10 years." Hoshi shared his gratitude, stating, > "It feels like we’re being told, ‘You’ve done well, you’ve endured well.’ I’m truly grateful to CARATs and will repay this feeling on stage." Woozi added, > "I’m overwhelmed. I’m always thankful to everyone who listens to our music, and this time is no different."
